Riverside Development - Hessle, East Yorkshire

There used to be a time when offices were nothing more than concrete blocks for people to sit and work in, but today’s office is much more of a statement about the occupants. Good architecture plays an integral role in this. Strong, imaginative designs are now the expected norm and architects are increasingly expected to break the mould, yet again, with even more avant-garde concepts...
The Riverside office complex, part of Hull’s Waterside Business Park, achieves just that - and more. Located on the North bank of the Humber estuary, Riverside is a stylish office with an unusual mix of materials, bold designs and built-in views.
- Well-designed office accommodation
- Broad palette of materials
- Bold, individual designs
- Strong use of natural light
- Stunning views of the estuary
- High use of reflective surfaces
"It was our intention from the start to create a dramatic building befitting the magnificence of the location, The Humber is one of the UK’s major estuaries and we wanted our designs to reflect this, so after close consultation with our client, we have been able to utilise some genuinely stunning ideas using a bold palette of materials to create a landmark concept in Hull’s office accommodation."
said BDA Design Director, Andy Sangwin.

"We have used extensive glazing to take in the uninterrupted views and allow for a high percentage of natural light. From a design perspective, however, any shiny surface is also a very good reflector and here we use glass to take on images of the water and create an even greater synergy with the location. We continue this theme, by incorporating blue glazed bricks into the outer fabric to provide even more decorative appeal - and for added drama, patinised copper is used to complete the diverse range of external surfaces" concluded Andy.
This pioneering development will provide 18,000 square feet of office accommodation contained within a four-storey building. The spacious complex also provides parking for over 70 cars, and once occupied, can accommodate 200 people.
This highly capable practice has been re-shaping the architectural landscape of Hull and the East Riding for 25 years and welcomes the exceptional rise in investment in the area.
The Waterside Business Park is just one of many innovative projects resulting from the vision and expertise of BDA.
